ASUS G74SX-XA1 Republic of Gamers 17.3-Inch Gaming Laptop - Black

First of all I would really like to begin saying this ASUS G74SX-XA1 is a powerful laptop also has very nice design.

To me, the laptop’s design is always important, and this laptop meets my requirements for appearance and overall performance, while this laptop runs all of my applications amazingly, be it games or everything else I have thrown at it.

All of the games I have tried are played with maximum settings so far.

The heating system on this machine is definitely the coolest I have ever found for a gaming laptop in this spec.

The regular processor temperature gets about thirty centigrade while not doing anything and extends to a maximum of all-around sixty centigrade if this beast burdened by very heavy use.

Anywhere over the place where the hard drives are, will get warmer if you use it continuously (The hard drives are located under of the trackpad, however the heat in fact is comfortable for my hands so it will not irritate me).

The part above its gpu(placed between the mainkeys and the number pad) will be a bit warm, however it is unlikely my hand will be there often.

The laptop’s cooling system is definitely amazingly efficient whilst staying totally in audible.

The laptop keyboard is without a doubt stunning as it is big, solid and wonderfully illuminated, I’ve not experienced a missed type, as I am a writer, and the trackpad is also great, however I hardly ever use it.

The 17″ display that is Full HD appears to be awesome and it is very crisp. The wireless connectivity is surprisingly very good, either you are at home or somewhere else.

After a month of using this baby, I want to say, here are my thoughts of this ASUS G74SX-XA1;

1. It’s a very powerful, fast, and beautiful machine. Clear 17 inch screen, great cooling system and very good speakers which are very nice to run games, music and videos.

If you first notice that the speakers sound doesn’t load at maximum volume, you might want to do this to get louder sound, click the windows icon in the bottom left, and type on THX on the search input.

Open the THX icon (in black color) and set the laptop from laptop to external speakers. I did it, and the sound is now fantastic, loud.

2. Amazingly solid overall performance, and I have yet to find any blue screens until today. If it does happen, I am going to update this review.

No laptop is perfect, so here are my con:

1. It doesn’t include a blu ray drive, only standard DVD driver. The Asus A1 includes it (and 1tb of hdd), but it is about $400 more expensive than this one.

2. Like other laptops, it comes with tons of bloatware, so the first thing I did with this machine was, removing the 2 partitions of the hdd, then I formatted it, and I installed a really fresh of windows 7.

By doing it, I could get rid of those unwanted bloatware and having this laptop just as I wanted.

Overall, this is a very nice portable Asus laptop.

ASUS G74SX-XA1 is a good gaming laptop for that price, extremely fast, and performs my high-end games.
